It’s been 10 months since the grand reopening of Pink Pothos at The Container Courtyard, and whew — time has flown. Some days it feels like we just cut the ribbon yesterday. Other days, I look around at the courtyard — the plants, the people, the purpose — and I’m reminded how much has grown in such a short time. These months have been a whirlwind of workshops, new faces, returning customers, and lessons that rooted deep and bloomed fast.
Nine months. That’s how long it took to grow what is now The Container Courtyard at Pittsburgh Yards. But this wasn’t just a business move — it was a repotting season. One filled with uncertainty, hustle, community love, and a whole lot of faith.
My journey really took off when I was selected to be part of the Atlanta Beltline Marketplace — a pilot program supporting Black-owned small businesses. I was the newest face in the lineup, the baby of the group. My business was still a seed, but my vision was loud. I showed up with a heart full of purpose, and treated every customer interaction like it mattered — because it did.
But as beautiful as that season was, I knew it was time for me to graduate and move on. The purpose of the program was to provide a temporary space, but got a taste of what could be and I knew what I wanted. I wanted a space where people could linger, where my son could come after school and see his mama building something that belonged to her. That’s when I found Pittsburgh Yards.
The opportunity to grow into a shipping container space felt raw, wild, and full of potential — just like me. I didn’t have a blueprint. I had community, intuition, and the will to make it happen. It took nine months to build out The Pink Box: physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Now? It's more than a shop. It’s a sanctuary. It’s where we host workshops, plant therapy sessions, and give people a place to share their own personal journy. My hope is that when you walk into this space, you don’t just see plants — you see possibility.
